Sussex Spy Treasure Hunt
Sussex is actually two counties (East Sussex and West Sussex) and includes a huge variety of historic sites, market towns, seaside resorts and National Parks
It’s unique and long history and closeness to the capital make it a superb venue for a treasure hunt of any sort ..and our Sussex Spy Challenge is no exception.
Sussex has a long association with all things spying. For example – did you know that between 1941 to 1944 a Sussex farmer’s wife provided board and lodging in her Sussex farmhouse to men and women of the French Resistance who, acting as intelligence agents for MI6, were flown by moonlight in and out of Tangmere aerodrome by RAF Lysander pilots.
At City Treasure hunts – the Spy challenge begins with your teams having to pass through their basic training ‘Spy School’ where powers of observation, code cypher breaking and problem solving will be tested to the limit.
Once completed – teams may find themselves filming a scene from the latest James Bond movie on Brighton Pier, passing coded messages in the oldest pub in Arundel (never a chore!), or searching for the vital clues in the heart of Chichester.
During the Spy Challenge – you may find yourself at some point visiting all manner of well-known landmarks in such places of note as
- Hastings
- Brighton
- Arundel
- Eastbourne
- Lewes
- Chichester
- Bognor Regis
Or you may be following a clue trail around the grounds of the hotel at which you are staying.
We have many different Spy treasure trails already in place but each one can be tailored to the profile of your group (ie age, fitness etc) and also to where you are staying. If it is a one-day event we will recommend and even book for you a suitable place or venue to start and finish.
East & West Sussex are particularly well served with great hotels and conference venues – many of which we have worked with numerous times over the years.

- Kings and Queens of England
- The Romans
